The Independent Locksmith Journal (TILJ) began operation in late 2005 as a free, advertising-supported publication for the Locksmithing Industry.  It was published three times a year.  There are only two individuals involved with TILJ.  Ken Persson of Peterson Manufacturing in East Rochester, NY. and Don Dennis, CPL in Limestone, TN.  Ken is your Publisher and Don is your Editor.  Our writers are paid locksmithing individuals who bring their considerable expertise to the pages of The Independent Locksmith Journal.  Their biographical information and photos can be found in our Writer's section on this website.

In January 2008, the TILJ publication (going to a bi-monthly schedule and doubling in size) went to a paid subscription holding to the concept that a more independent representation of the industry could be presented to a paying readership.  We feel that this will be a more viable means of serving the individual locksmith.  While we still accept advertising, it is hoped that the readership will support these advertisers for it is their efforts that help us to keep the TILJ subscription rate as low as possible.

Our Goals
  • To provide a publication about all aspects of locksmithing to the locksmithing industry.
  • To keep the publication technical in all aspects.
  • To listen to the locksmith and find solutions to their problems.
  • To move all non-technical information to a website.
  • To promote fellowship and continuity within the TILJ readership.
  • To maintain a high level of customer service.
